You fall asleep first
long before I need to rest
so I turn to books.
I wear a secret headtorch
and silently mine for words.

Patrick Fisher is a part time poet and full-time primary school teacher, reading aloud for pleasure at every opportunity. Living and working in Glasgow, his poems have previously been published in newleaf, a poetry journal published by the University of Bremen, and The Dirigible Balloon, a wonderful website full of poetry for children. He loves jelly babies, swimming in the sea and has a laugh so loud he is instantly recognised, even in the cinema.
