Tyger Tyger Issue 9 – Big Things, June 2025

Welcome to the ninth issue of Tyger Tyger Magazine, the Big Things edition!
Welcome to a magnificent issue! Get ready to step into a world of big objects, big animals, and big ideas. Watch as a huge wall of rain is transformed into a shimmering simile and a humpback whale rises with mighty grandeur from the page. Listen to a hymn of tiny beginnings, meet the incredible species who deserve our care, and move joyfully between the sun and the moon. Consider your height using the metric of animals, then dip into the biggest of books, before being (briefly) scared by a looming monster. Puzzle out the identity of a gentle giant, then hold on to your hat as another giant scoops you up for a series of adventures. Enjoy the biggest, loudest instruments in the orchestra, cheer as someone stands up to a long-standing nemesis, then be swept off around the world with some surprising companions. Be immersed in Nature’s incomparable artistry, then discover some of the odd choices humans have made in naming their towering creations… Finally, end by celebrating the infinite power of love!
Each poem is available as a free poem-poster to download, print and display, and there are free lesson plans exploring ‘Giant Wall’ by Cindy Faughnan, ‘A Gargantuan Book of Ginormousness’ by Barbara Bleiman, and ‘The Planets are on Holiday’ by Ian Brownlie.
